Sacred Area
A circular building and a rectangular one are visible just below the walls of the forum. These structures likely belonged to an earlier sacred area (2nd–1st century BCE), which was demolished to make way for the new complex.
The rectangular building, possibly uncovered, was likely a kind of sacred enclosure. In front of it, remains of a small altar were found, featuring a recess designed to hold offerings. Traces of ash and burning are also visible, possibly related to the last sacred rites performed there.

Curiosity
It seems that this part of the city was designated for public and sacred purposes from its very beginnings. Excavations uncovered an inscribed cippus from the 3rd century CE, ritually deposited in a circular pit at the time the forum was abandoned. The inscription attests to the worship of Silvanus, a Roman deity associated with forests (silvae).
